The Golden Gloves is an 81 year old boxing tradition in New York City - it is part of its fabric and culture.  It is a stepping-stone to the Olympics for some and for a few it is a spring-board to a professional boxing career and a world championship title.

The New York FPC provided an opportunity for eighteen NY-based foreign journalists to participate in a presentation on the history of the Golden Gloves competition, a visit to a gym where the young men and women train, a media availability where they had the opportunity to interview the finalists, their trainers and managers, and attendance at the final bouts.
